St Andrews Lock & Dam Rehabilitation

Over the past 20 years, Ernst Hansch Construction Ltd. has completed a number of different rehabilitation projects for Public Works and Government Services Canada at the St Andrews Lock & Dam in Lockport, Manitoba.

Works have included the demolition and removal of large areas of the existing structure, including excavation, a new 160 m x 6.7 m concrete bridge, deck rehabilitation of the existing bridge and associated works as well as extensive rehabilitation of the 360 m main truss spans and east approach spans, rehabilitation of the existing concrete foundation pedestals as well as road reconstruction and asphalt overlay works.

 

Other works include new concrete deck and approaches, concrete barriers and sidewalks, new expansion joints, abutments, back walls and stairs, strengthening of the steel structure and rehabilitation of existing foundation pedestal as well as replacement of 49 top castings.
